Taylor Wimpey

A Taylor Wimpey development of 371 new homes in the Cheshire countryside required a landscape masterplan, detailed design and and habitat creation. The site was the home to a former chemical works.

All preliminary ecological surveys were completed to identify any constraints at an early stage. These informed the design of an ecological mitigation area, improvements to an existing riparian corridor and creation of rough swards of grassland to encourage barn owls.

The landscape vision was to create an enhanced and improved roadside frontage.

The vibrant and distinctive entrance is wide and tree lined opening into a ‘Village Green’ with an attenuation meadow. The existing hedgerow was retained and ‘gapped up’ and new hedgerows and boundary railings formed. The main area of public open space includes a play area.

Plans were approved in February 2015. Urban Green supported the delivery of the project by managing to negotiate sett closures prior to permission being granted enabling the developer to progress the scheme per the plan.
