Dore & Grindleford, Hope Valley Railway

Network Rail

Through its Northern Hub programme, Network Rail invested in improvements to the Hope Valley line between Sheffield and Manchester. New sections of railway have been be built close to Dore & Grindleford and Totley stations with designated sites situated within the Peak District National Park and on ancient woodland and areas of preservation and conservation.

To assess the potential environmental impact on trees and to complement Network Rail’s wider Environment Impact Assessment, Urban Green implemented an arboriculture survey. The methodology prevented delays to proposed works by using GIS mapping at Dore and random sampling at Grindleford due to the size and complexity of the site.

Working collaboratively with planning and environmental consultants we implemented an efficient survey methodology in order to prevent any delays to proposed works.

A complete BS5837 survey and report was provided to complement Network Rail’s wider Environment Impact Assessment.
