Brief

The sensitive restoration and conversion of the historic Grade II listed former mill complex will create 152 one and two-bed contemporary apartments contrasting and complementing the building’s period façade and the construction of 44 townhouses, offering, three and four-beds within the grounds.

Vacant since 2003, the sensitive site had long been of interest to DeTrafford Estates Group and was recognised as a valuable opportunity to support the growth of Reddish’s existing businesses, help new businesses to start and attract investment into the area.

Solution

A landscape masterplan, planning and detailed design were completed by Urban Green for both the conversion of the retained mill and the new development.

The development will offer shared amenity spaces including communal gardens, picnic areas, sun terraces and wildflower gardens.

Results

Urban Green supported Ollier Smurthwiate Architects and DeTrafford Estates Group in achieving full planning for the development in early 2015 enabling the site’s exciting transformation to begin.
