Lancaster Moor, Lancaster

P J Livesey & Story Homes

Lancaster Moor has been one of Lancashire’s iconic landmarks since 1832. The iconic site had been at risk for over a decade and required a creative approach.

Urban Green was appointed to carry out a landscape masterplan, landscape and wildlife management plan, habitat protection and creation report and an arboriculture assessment for all phases of the exceptional 300 unit residential development for Story Homes.

The iconic site had been dilapidated for over a decade and needed a creative approach to resolve the problems faced by the hospital and Campbell House.

Working with the landowner and the HCA, Urban Green designed the public open space of the 16 hectare site to complement the extensive redevelopment. Working closely with our teams, protected where possible existing environmental features and created public open space which protected new habitats and infrastructure whilst complimenting the redevelopment of the former hospital.

Visualisations and verified views were produced as part of the LVIA carried out on the latter phase (Moor Park) for planning.

PJ Livesey commenced work in November 2012 delivering the exclusive development of converted mews homes and 180 individually designed apartments set within the Grade II listed buildings. Story Homes is completing 400 new homes within the grounds with completion expected in 2016.

Due to investment by the HCA and innovative work by all involved this landmark site on the Lancaster skyline has been transformed.
