Ripley-Codnor Link Road

Amber Valley Borough Council

The Council received proposals for a new road between the main road links to Nottingham, Derby and the M1. Plans included the development of 1,000 new homes, public open space, sports pitches, play areas and employment land.

Urban Green was appointed to support the planning application and to investigate and mitigate any implications for countryside and wildlife.

Situated on a complex, greenbelt site, the development posed potential impact on hedgerows, trees and other semi-natural habitats with adverse implications for protected species including bats, great crested newts, badgers, reptiles, birds and white clawed crayfish.

Working with the Authority and multiple landowners, Urban Green surveyed the route of the proposed link road and proposed suitable mitigation to negate any such impact.

Happy Client

“We have worked with Urban Green for a number of months on a complicated and sensitive site and have found them to be very responsive and professional. It has been a pleasure to work on the project with Urban Green and we look forward to working with them in the near future.”

Kevin Hopkinson, Development Consultant Amber Valley Borough Council

A pragmatic approach to the redevelopment of the site allowed the local authority to progress plans within the Core Strategy whilst continuing to achieve strategic objectives.
